Man arrested for firearms offences following incident outside shop

A Wisbech man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

He was one of three men arrested following an incident outside a convenience store in Gladstone Road, Northampton, yesterday evening, Tuesday, July 7.

The incident happened at about 8.30pm outside the One Stop Shop, when four men began fighting armed with various weapons including a baseball bat before making off in two vehicles.

One of the vehicles was located a short time later in Stockmead Road, Standens Barn, and a 32-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of affray.

The second vehicle was located at about 10pm at the Tesco service station in Wellinborough Road. A 43-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a firearm, and a 28-year-old man from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a class A drug and affray.

All three men are currently in police custody.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to the incident and would also like to hear from anyone who was in the Gladstone Road area and may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or the people and vehicles involved.
