Man and woman appear in court over death of baby

A man and woman have appeared in court charged over the death of a baby boy in Cambridgeshire.

Teddie Mitchell, from St Neots, sustained injuries and was admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge on November 1 last year.

The 12-week-old died in hospital 10 days later on November 11.

Details of his injuries have not been disclosed.

Kane Mitchell, 30, appeared before Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday charged with Teddie’s murder.

Mitchell, of no fixed address but formerly of St Neots, appeared by video-link during the virtual hearing.

Lucci Smith, 29, of Pattison Court, St Neots, appeared by video-link charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

They were not asked to enter a plea.

They were both remanded in custody and are due back before the court for a plea hearing on July 3.

A provisional trial date has been set for November 30.
