Man accused of murdering Peterborough schoolboy Rikki Neave will not face trial until next year

The man accused of murdering Peterborough schoolboy Rikki Neave in 1994 will not stand trial until January 22.

James Watson (39) of no fixed abode has been charged with murdering six year old Rikki in Welland in November 1994.

A trial had originally been set to start at The Central Criminal Court - better known as The Old Bailey in London- on January 12 this year - however, it has now been delayed.

The hearing is now scheduled to start on January 4, 2022 at the same court.
The trial judge will be the Hon. Mrs Justice McGowan DBE.

Rikki was last seen leaving for school at around 9am on Monday, November 28, 1994, from his home in Redmile Walk, Welland.

He is believed to have been wearing grey trousers, a white shirt, black shoes and a blue coat.

Rikki’s body was found in a wooded area off Eye Road, close to Willoughby Court, the following day – five minutes’ Walk from his home in the Welland Estate.
