Kevin Cosgrove, 38, of no fixed address, left the voicemail for the woman on the evening of 20 January.

In the recorded tirade, Cosgrove said he was “coming for her” and that he was going to kill her. The victim barricaded her back door with furniture to protect herself and her children and was too scared to turn her kitchen lights on.

The victim called police and while officers were at the property in Whittlesey, Cosgrove arrived and was arrested for breach of a non-molestation order and making threats to kill.

He appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (26 March) where he pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and was sentenced to one year in prison and handed a two year restraining order.

DC Em Scates said: “The voicemail left by Cosgrove was terrifying for the victim and her young children. Cosgrove’s violent words were inexcusable and I am pleased he has been brought to justice.”
