Firefighters tackled house and caravan fires in Peterborough yesterday (Tuesday).

Firstly, at 1.40pm a crew from Dogsthorpe and the north roaming fire engine attended a house fire in Havelock Drive, Stanground.

The crews arrived to find a fire in a kitchen which they extinguished before returning to their stations by 4.15pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental, a Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

Then at 9.38pm a crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a caravan fire in Drain Road, Newborough.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report, or call 101.

Finally, at 11.44pm a crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a fire in the open in Lincoln Road, Glinton, where an external speaker was well alight.

The firefighters used buckets of water to extinguish the fire before returning to their station by 12.40am.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately, and anyone with information should contact police.
