Cambridgeshire police said just four people had been given fines in Peterborough for breaching the current regulations so far during the lockdown, with 27 fines issued over the whole county.

While other areas of the country have seen illegal pub lock ins and house parties, the police spokesman said there had been no major incidents so far in Peterborough during the past three weeks.

However, there have been hotspots for activity. Drone footage of the city centre taken by photographer Terry Harris showed a number of people not sticking to the two metre guidelines as they walked, ran and cycled along Long Causeway and in Cathedral Square.

Police were sent to Long Causeway last week as a result of reports of people breaching the rules as other residents queued for services including banking, with officers dispersing residents to make the area safe.

Residents are also now also being asked to avoid the Rowing Lake because of overcrowding as crowds of people have been trying to take advantage of the spring sunshine.
