The group had their beer tipped out at the award-winning green space in Park Road, with one even swearing at a photographer who captured the incident.

Officers across the country are being given powers to fine those flouting new rules intended to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

People who do venture outdoors are also being told to keep at least two metres away from each other to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

However, it appears some people just are not getting the message with police spotting a gathering of more than two people in Chatteris in the early hours of this morning to fix a car radio, while others remain confused and have been calling police for guidance about which businesses are allowed to remain open.

A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said this morning: “We are continuing to patrol across Cambridgeshire to ensure people adhere to government advice.

“We would encourage people to report any information they have about pubs, restaurants, venues staying open and acting against this advice by reporting this online at www.cambs.police.uk/report.”

She added: “Any venues found to be ignoring or going against government advice will be dealt with appropriately.”
