“Meeting up to fit a car stereo is not essential, and for both drivers to drive to the location with just a provisional driving licence and no insurance is just as bad.”

Both vehicles were seized by police and the drivers reported.

Meanwhile, police have revealed how a number of drivers were queuing up at McDonald’s in Brotherhood Shopping Park last night before the fast food chain closed its drive-thru at 7pm - 90 minutes before the lockdown was ordered.

The force posted on social media: “Policing the panic buying! Brotherhood’s McDonald’s is now closed for business. Please don’t come here for a last minute burger.”

Lincolnshire Police revealed last night that it had been inundated with people calling after the Prime Minister had announced the country was in lockdown.

The Twitter account for Lincolnshire Police’s control room tweeted: “We are experiencing an extremely high volume of calls from people asking for further guidance regarding the @10DowningStreet broadcast. Please don’t call 999/101 unless it’s an emergency or you need a police response.”

It includes requiring people to stay at home, except for very limited purposes, closing non-essential shops and community spaces and stopping all gatherings of more than two people in public.

Police have been given powers to enforce the lockdown.
