Coronavirus: Jump in positive tests in Peterborough; 381 deaths in the UK in single day; police break up football match

Peterborough has seen a jump in the number of positive coronavirus tests in the city over the past 24 hours.

The number of confirmed cases has risen from 24 to 36 - a rise of 50 per cent - although there have been no more confirmed deaths.

So far, three people who have tested positive with Covid-19 have died at Peterborough City Hospital, while five have died at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

In the UK, the past 24 hours has seen 381 people with the coronavirus die.

So far, 1,789 people in the country with the virus have died while there have been 25,150 positive tests.

In Cambridgeshire, there have been 129 confirmed cases. The figures are 170 for Northamptonshire and 104 for Lincolnshire.

Meanwhile, police have revealed they had to stop a football match being played by young people in Millfield earlier today (Tuesday).

Cambridgeshire police said: “After some engagement and education regarding the importance of self-isolation the group were dispersed.”

Lincolnshire Police has previously complained of people calling its force control room with coronavirus related enquiries, including one asking if they could get their dog groomed.

The force tweeted today: “We are still receiving lots of calls to @FCR_Lincs asking Covid-19 related questions. Please DO NOT call 101 to ask us. Keep our lines free for those who really need us.”
