Cambridgeshire house 'closed' by police due to drug abuse

A house in Wisbech has been closed for three months due to concerns about drug use and associated anti-social behaviour (ASB).

The full closure order was served on 32 Bramley Road on Wednesday (5 November) following a successful application to Peterborough Magistrates’ Court by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT).

The order, which is in place until 5 February, states the house is closed to everyone, with the exception of emergency services, employees of Clarion Housing Association and Cambridgeshire County Council.

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.

Sergeant Lee Lombardo, from the Wisbech NPT, said: “After continued visits to the house following reports of ASB linked to drug use, we knew that further action had to be taken.

“We hope this closure order gives the surrounding neighbours some respite and shows that we do listen to their concerns and are working to make the community a nicer place to live.”
