James Watson (38) of no fixed abode appeared at the court today. It is said he killed six year-old Rikki at some point between Novemner 28 and November 29 1994.

There was a large number of reporters in court for the hearing, and they were joined on the press bench by court artist Julia Quenzler.

The law forbids Julia from drawing in court itself, and photography is also prohibited, so she created the picture from memory in the moments after the short hearing concluded.

Watson was not asked to enter or indicate a plea, and was in court for just 105 seconds this morning, confirming his name and date of birth. He will appear at The Central Criminal Court - better known as The Old Bailey in London - tomorrow morning (Friday) for a further hearing.
