Appeal to trace hit and run driver after man seriously hurt in collision at Peterborough Sainsbury's petrol station

Police are appealing to trace a driver after a man was seriously injured in a hit and run collision at a Peterborough supermarket petrol station.

The incident happened at the Oxney Road Sainsbury;s in the city on Saturday.

Today police said they were appealing for information about the driver of a Silver VW Golf which is believed to have been involved.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 10.51am on Saturday (6 March) with reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian at Sainsbury’s filling station, Oxney Road, Peterborough.

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 60s was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

"The driver of the car left the scene.

"A crime has been raised for wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and an investigation is ongoing to locate the driver."
