WATCH: Teenager lead police on motorcycle pursuit in Peterborough before crashing

A teenage boy from Peterborough has been banned from driving after leading police on a dangerous motorbike pursuit in Yaxley.

Officers were on patrol in the village on 27 June following reports of anti-social motorbike riding when they spotted two riders. As police approached, both made off in different directions.

A spokesperson for Cambs Police said: “One of the riders, a 13-year-old boy from Peterborough, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was seen overtaking cars, failing to break at roundabouts and riding well above the 30mph limit.

"His reckless riding forced other road users to take evasive action and even took him onto footpaths.

“The pursuit ended when he crashed into a central reservation and fled into a wooded area, where he was arrested.”

The footage, taken from police body cam inside the pursuit vehicle, does not show the collision.

At Huntingdon Youth Court on Wednesday (29 October), the boy pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop. He was given a five-month referral order and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

PC Harvey Noble, from the Huntingdon neighbourhood team, commented: “This individual put lives at risk with the manner of his driving. We take residents’ concerns seriously and will continue to target those who think they can ride illegally and irresponsibly on our roads.”
