Prolific thief jailed after stealing dog food, crisps and bottled drinks from Peterborough shops
A thief who stole more than £600 worth of goods from shops in Bretton, Peterborough, has been jailed.
James Law, 26, struck first on 2 May, at Subway, in Bretton Court, where he and another man filled a bag with bottled drinks and packets of crisps worth more than £100.
A spokesperson for Cambs Police said: “Both men targeted Pets at Home, in Bretton Way, later the same day, where they each took a bag of dog food, totalling more than £50.
“Law continued his spree throughout the following week, stealing a variety of food, soft drinks and alcohol totalling more than £300 from Morrisons Daily, in Bretton Centre, and BP, in Bretton Way.

“He was arrested on 18 May after stealing more than £100 worth of deli items and drinks from the BP filling station.”
CCTV was used to identify Law on each occasion.
A bag containing two grams of cocaine was also found inside Law’s wallet in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, 14 November, Law, of no fixed address, was sentenced to one year and five months in prison after activating a suspended sentence. He pleaded guilty to eight counts of theft, one count of possession of cocaine, and one count of failing to surrender to police bail.
PC Simon Clark commented: “Law went on a shoplifting spree for more than two weeks, targeting businesses across Bretton and stealing almost £600 worth of goods. Retail theft is not a victimless crime, and it will remain a priority for us.”
