Drug dealer from Peterborough jailed after police discovered cocaine stashed in his pants

A drug dealer from Peterborough has been jailed after police discovered bags of cocaine when they stopped his uninsured and untaxed vehicle.

Cambridgeshire police say that officers from the Road Policing Unit were on patrol in Yaxley when they spotted a Fiat 500 on London Road with no insurance or tax.

A police spokesperson said that officers stopped the vehicle and noticed that the driver, Tiago Lemes Ramos (29) of Worthington Grove, Hampton Water, smelled strongly of cannabis.

He said that officers found two bags of cocaine in his pockets when they searched Ramos under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He said: “Officers then noticed a suspicious bulge in his waistband.

“Further searching revealed a chewing gum container in his pants with 16 bags of cocaine inside.

“Inside his vehicle, police also recovered cash and two mobile phones linking him to drug dealing.”

The incident occurred on January 4 this year.

Ramos was sentenced to 20 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine at Peterborough Crown Court on February 17.

Afterwards, Detective Constable James Lewis, who investigated, said: “Ramos attempted to hide his criminality but thanks to his uninsured and untaxed vehicle, our officers quickly uncovered his truth.

"His actions fuel harm and exploitation within our communities and this sentence reflects the seriousness of dealing class A drugs.”
