A combined harvester and standing crop was well alight when crews arrived and the fire was spreading to a nearby railway bank.

Trains were not stopped but took caution while firefighters worked to put the fire out.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire by 4pm and they continued to dampen down the crop.

The cause of the fire is accidental.
