A Peterborough woman who has fought to ensure consumers are safe from rogue traders is celebrating a milestone.

Eileen Le Voi set up Safe Local Trades (SLT) a decade ago and will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 1.

During that time, the online business has grown from a just a few members locally to more than 200 members across 68 trades with more than 13,000 reviews on the website.

SLT helps consumers find recommended and reliable tradespeople.

Eileen said: "The success of Safe Local Trades is due in the main to the fantastic members we have on board, all reliable, professional and recommended to offer customers peace of

mind.

“As well as our work with the trades, much effort is placed on safeguarding the more vulnerable people in our communities, with working with the relevant agencies to offer advice on avoiding rogue traders, reporting doorstep crime and how to get involved with your local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

She added: “It is hard to believe that SLT is 10 years old, and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved, and look forward to going from strength to strength.”

Tony Bogusz of Style Home Improvements, said: "Safe Local Trades has been a vital building block for our company over the last 10 years.

"We have found it helps reassure customers that we are a reputable, trustworthy company, and with the help of reviews and photos customers can decide if we are the company for them before contacting us.“

Following the success of SLT, Eileen set up Safe Local Services that carries recommendations on dozens of services outside the remit of tradespeople.

Eileen said: “The aim is again to provide consumers with vetted professionals – ranging from accountants to dentists, beauty therapists to a wide range of business support services - by

offering peace of mind when instructing a service.

“Each service has been vetted, has their own profile and offers consumers the chance to leave their own feedback and reviews.

"Customers have told us over the past 10 years that they trust and rely on our recommendations.”
