Academy kicks off Subject Focus weeks

Ormiston Bushfield Academy launched its Subject Focus initiative last week, looking to inspire the next generation of performers, scientists, writers and mathematicians.

Each month the Academy will see two subjects take centre stage as teachers, staff and pupils do everything from donning period costumes, to rustling up culinary delights, to live dance and music performances.

The activities kicked off with maths last week, with the department hosting a series of challenges to fit in with National Maths Week.

Dennis Kirwan, principal at Ormiston Bushfield Academy said: “These subject focus weeks are a great opportunity to celebrate the very best about the subjects that we normally teach in school.”
