The fair will remain in town until Saturday, with more than 100 colourful rides, along with food and drinks stalls and games filling both Bath Row and Broad Street.

But the rides on the Meadows will be closed today and tomorrow.

Stamford Town Council said in a statement: “Following discussions with the Emergency and Environment Agencies it has been determined that for public safety the Meadows will be closed and there no fair rides will be available on the Meadows today and tomorrow. The agencies are monitoring the high water levels and will keep the public notified via Floodline.”

But this morning (Friday, March 11) dozens of people took to Twitter to share photos of the rain waters around rides including the Magic Mouse rollercoaster.

@Kennamanga commented: “Such a shame for the fair”, while @Jollyruns said: “Feel bad for the guys that are going to have to try and pull that down tomorrow night! #washout”

There are currently a number of road closures in place whilst the fair is in town, details of which can be found on the SKDC website.

All affected roads and car parks will re-open at 6am on Sunday.
