Following the latest government advice, Peterborough City Council has begun working with its contractor, Aragon to reopen children’s parks and playgrounds from July 4.

On June 23, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the further easing of lockdown, identifying a number of services which may re-open from July 4, including outdoor play parks.

The council and Aragon say they are creating a plan in line with the Government guidance released on Friday. This will see a gradual re-opening of outdoor play areas to ensure all can be inspected and appropriate signage installed.

Coun Steve Allen, cabinet member for culture and recreation at the City Council, said: “To ensure that this is done in the safest manner possible we are taking a steady approach and as such this will be a gradual process.

“We will continue to put safety first. I would encourage everyone to continue enjoying the open spaces and parks that are already open in the interim, whilst maintaining socially distanced and ensuring to continue washing their hands.”
