‘These are unprecedented times’ - vital support and everyday essentials now available at special community hubs across the city.

Peterborough City Council has set up city-wide community hubs to help people who are struggling in the the cost of living crisis.

All of the hubs will offer food support, while many will also provide daily essentials, social activities and energy and warmth-related essentials. Some hubs have cafes with options for people to pay whatever they can afford.

“These are unprecedented times and everyone is affected by this crisis.”

The hubs – which are to be funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Household Support Fund – will be run by organisations from the community, voluntary and faith sectors. No qualification criteria needs to be met so anyone seeking support can simply turn up.

Councillor Allen told the Peterborough Telegraph that the council is “fully committed to doing everything we can to help those most in need.”

"If you are struggling right now, then please consider visiting your local hub.”

Ten hubs are already operating in Peterborough; in Millfield, Bretton, Central, Ravensthorpe, Stanground and Hampton. More are due to open their doors over the coming days and all will be open by Wednesday 23 November.
