Construction set to begin to create 265 new homes in Peterborough village
A development of 265 new homes is coming to Eye after a developer officially acquired the land required.
Peterborough-based homebuilder Allison Homes Central is set to deliver 265 new homes in the village at land located just off Eyebury Road.
The development will be known as Colliers Rest and consist of 185 open market sale homes and 80 affordable homes. These will be a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
Alongside these new homes, Allison Homes Central will be providing over three hectares of public open space, new play areas and allotments on the site, as well as land for an extension to Eye CofE Primary School.
The developer has also promised that works will also be carried out to improve pedestrian and cycle paths on Thorney Road and Eyebury Road and that over £1.3 million worth of contributions will be made to support local infrastructure.
Construction work on the site is now due to commence in May, with the doors to the marketing suite and show home set to open in early spring 2027.
Allison Homes has said that the development will ‘create a vibrant and balanced community that caters to all types of homebuyers and helps meet local housing needs.’
The plans were first tabled in 2019. Many residents raised concerns about the extra pressure the development would be put on school and GP services, the danger to the character of the area and the traffic build-up.
During three further consultations, the number of objections rose to 378 from 381 responses.
