Fundraiser and breast cancer patient Carol Collier has arranged for a number of local restaurants to share the hosting of the lunch simultaneously on Friday December 4, with inspirational guest speaker Claire Lomas MBE addressing the audience via a live Zoom stream to each of the venues.

Radio presenter Kev Lawrence will host proceedings.

Each of the restaurants will ensure social distancing with tables of four or six people with access to a large screen enabling them all to feel part of the fund-raising event. Last year, the lunch raised almost £18,000 taking the total raised so far up to around £70,000.

Guests will be able to opt for a venue of their choice and enjoy a two-course lunch with glass of Prosecco for £20, payable to the restaurant on the day. The fund-raising element of the event will be covered by a £30 subscription which includes raffle tickets for an array of wonderful prizes. The raffle will be drawn live at the Studio during the event.

Those feeling uncomfortable attending one of the venues but keen to be involved can do so via home links with Chef de la Maison and Longthorpe Fine Catering available to provide/deliver individual picnic boxes to your home or office.

Guest Speaker Claire Lomas MBE has an amazing life story to share. Her life changed in a split second when she was thrown from her horse whilst riding as an Eventer – she was at the highest level in this sport. She sustained life changing injuries and was paralysed from the chest down. Her story is both humbling and amazing and she is now a recognised fundraiser for Spinal Injury Research.

Claire Hall, Breast Care Nurse Specialist at The PCH Breast Care Unit will update guests on the latest information regarding breast cancer care and how COVID has affected the running of the unit.

“We have already had a significant take up for this event and I am very excited at the prospect of running another great fund-raising initiative,” said organiser Carol Collier.

“This has been a very challenging year for many of us with events and shows being cancelled so I am hoping we can get together, dress up and have some fun at the same time as raising funds for the PCH Breast Care Unit – your support will be greatly appreciated.”
