Peterborough pub still closed - 12 months after £100,000 refurbishment

A year after undergoing a £100,000-plus refurbishment, a Peterborough pub stands boarded up, its garden overgrown.

The Wheatsheaf, on Eastfield Road, closed over the summer of last year while extensive work was carried out inside and out. It reopened last September as a family friendly carvery and grill pub with new bar area and large screen TVs showing sport. However, it closed down again suddenly when the tenant left in January and has been boarded up ever since, having failed to reopen following the coronavirus lockdown. The pub is owned and leased out by Greene King. A spokesman said the company was currently advertising for a new tenant to take it over.
