The gastro pub closed before Christmas but lockdown has seen the garden transformed with seating for 70 drinkers and diners now in place, mostly under cover.

The bar has been temporarily cleared and restaurant locked with chairs and tables now set for the alfresco hospitality allowed until May 17.

“The garden was extended but much of the area was exposed,” said front of house manager Marcus Lee.

“The Marquee is new, and has built in heaters, and our existing garden canopy now has heaters installed and fire towers - we just wasn’t to keep our customers warm and cosy when they visit.

“Even when customers are allowed inside from May 17 we will still keep the outside area with 70 covers and then through the summer people will have a choice of inside or out.”

Marcus said the response to reopening had been fantastic - and he was expecting a busy day today with lots more bookings spread out throughout the week.
