The restaurant was founded by talented city chef Lee Clarke in 2016, setting up home in a small but much refurbished mews behind offices in Priestgate.

It quickly gained a reputation for excellence and has been recognised by the Michelin Guide ever since. Recognition by Hardens and the Good Food Guide have followed.

But from Thursday, Lee will be at the helm of Prévost at The Haycock - as he embarks on a new chapter at the Haycock Hotel at Wansford, which has new owners with big plans.

Lee, who launched Clarkes in the city centre in 2011 before setting up Prévost, said: “In a way it is sad to leave after almost four years but I see this very much as a forward step.

“The move doesn’t really offer more in terms of covers but it gives us car parking and an owner that will be supportive of what we want to do.

“It gives us the opportunity to raise the profile of Prévost and the Haycock.

“It ticks all the right boxes and it feels good to be in at the start of something exciting with regards to the future of the hotel under its new owners.”

Lee and the team will continue to serve dishes from multi-course taster menus built up at Prévost over the years.
