More in Peterborough join Eat Out to Help Out scheme

The list of restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes taking part continues to grow, with The Pizza House, in Cowgate, operating the 50 percent discount (Monday to Wednesday, up to £10) for the first time today.

Goretti Lobato, who has Mattoni Italian restaurants in Eye and Hamnpton Vale, doesn’t usually open on a Monday and Tuesday, but has changed opening hours due to demand.

She said: “As we only open from Wednesdays we were extremely busy last week. We have now decided to open Tuesday and we are already busy every Tuesday and Wednesday with bookings,

“Thank you to our government for doing all it can to help restaurants survive and show people it is safe to go out as long as guidelines are followed.”

Dinesh Odedra, who owns The Banyan Tree in Westgate, added: “Eat Out has been amazingly busy, it’s pretty much like December season. We have had to space bookings to be covid compliant, but luckily, we have plenty of space.

“We are making available a special set menu for small groups. Four For Forty; four guests get a stunning banquet meal served at their table including starters, sides, mains, rice and bread !!

“However, it has impacted on the other days - a case of ‘swings and roundabouts’.”

Participating establishments may include: restaurants, cafés, bars or pubs and the discount - which is for every diner, not excluding alcoholic drinks, runs until August 31.
