Is Reggae Rum Punch Peterborough’s favourite on World Cocktail Day?
Today is World Cocktail Day - so to celebrate we popped in to Peterborough’s Turtle Bay bar and restaurant which is home to 30 different cocktails!
They are all rum-based, as you might imagine given the St John’s Square venue’s Caribbean theme.
But top of the pile - the most popular - is the Reggae Rum Punch
Assistant manager Jessica Hefferon explained: “We have a lovely cocktail bar area and cocktails are definitely popular with our customers - there are 30 to choose from.
“The most popular is the Reggae Rum Punch. It is made with Wray and Nephew over-proofed rum from Jamaica - that’s 63 per cent proof - so it is very strong and it comes in a lovely bottle.
“We add to that pineapple juice, strawberry puree, grenadine and top it with bitters with loads of ice and a slice of pineapple. It is delicious.”
World Cocktail Day is a celebration of cocktails around the globe, marking the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13th in 1806.
