Cheers - village pub lands prestigious real ale award from Peterborough CAMRA

There’s reason to celebrate at Yaxley’s Duck & Drake after it became the latest recipient of Peterborough CAMRA group’s John Rice Award.

The “LocAle Pub of The Year” was awarded for consistent quality real ales at the Main Street pub, brewed within a 30 mile radius of Peterborough.

“We were over the moon,” said Karen Perks who runs the pub with David Nightingale.

“It's quite an achievement in little over a year of taking over, and was always an ambition to serve local great ales, which are kept in the best condition by our cellar man Martin Hamlett.

“Thank you all for your continued support as we put The Duck back on the map.”

Karen was delighted that The Duck & Drake joins the ranks of other great local pubs that have previously won the award, The Palmerston Arms, Wonky Donkey, The Heron and The Yard of Ale.

The award was presented by Dickie Bird and Steve Bersey, from Peterborough CAMRA.
