Not so long-ago Peterborough was a destination to buy baby products from stores such as Mothercare, Kiddicare, John Lewis and a wealth of other names. The internet and other market forces changed all that and they all closed.
To fill the gap, in June 2021 online baby specialist retailer www.oliversBabycare.co.uk opened a professionally designed air-conditioned boutique store at their base at King Street Industrial Estate in Langtoft. As well as parents, manufacturers have shown their appreciation for this by supporting the new store. It quickly became clear they needed more display space.
In response to popular demand the Olivers babycare store is extending substantially to increase the range of products on display. Customers can try before they buy to take away including car seats, prams, strollers, cots, cribs, highchairs, baby monitors, stair gates, booster seats, changing mats plus sleeping and feeding products.
Gerad Barclay CEO & Founder of Olivers Babycare which is a Division of EDPA Ltd, said: “After decades of operating retail chains with corporate firms I decided to switch to online with my own company. I had no intention of opening another Bricks N Mortar store however, following the end of covid lockdown in April/May 2021 customers from far and wide contacted us requesting to come and see products in the flesh as there were no baby stores locally.”
“Finding contractors to do work during Spring/Summer of 2021 was extremely challenging yet we were determined, and we opened in June. Customer reaction was fantastic which rekindled my passion for serving customers face to face. We already had strong team of experienced staff to help customers in-store as well as thousands of baby products in stock, so we do offer a true 5* shopping experience for our customers. Some famous baby products brands are supporting this shop extension and we look forward to welcoming customers into the enlarged space”.
Olivers BabyCare offer a click and collect service and for larger orders they can offer local same day delivery from their warehouses located in Peterborough, Bourne and Langtoft.
Oliver’s BabyCare Boutique is open to customers six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm.
