The Whittle in Stanground has benefitted from a £117,000 investment by national pub operator Punch and publican Harry Price.

It follows the news last week that the Cross Keys at Orton Longueville had reopened after a £175,000 refurbishment.

The Central Square community pub has been given a mini-makeover to refresh, repair and update the premises which were remodelled back in 2013. The open plan venue has a bar, separate games area with two pool tables and Sky sports and a popular beer garden.

Harry said: “I’m delighted with the work that has been done to The Whittle, it has been given the lift it deserves and I’ve received some great comments from our regulars who love the smart, new appearance.

“I’m determined to make the pub the hub of the local community by organising plenty of activities over the coming months. I already have plans for family fun days, hog roasts and charity events alongside out regular retro-discos and karaoke and quiz nights.

“The refurbishment work has also enabled us to provide food alongside our wide range of drinks and we will be having weekly offers including pizza and pasta, steak, curry and fish nights.”

Commenting on the investment, Richard Wennington, openings manager for Punch, said: “This latest investment in The Whittle will help to maintain its position at the heart of the community, with a clear focus on delivering a great pub experience.”
