70s' kids go back to Victorian times

Twenty nine young actors aged six to 17 will take to the stage at the Village Hall tonight (Friday) and Saturday as Langtoft Junior Players present Smike - The Musical .

The musical tells the story of a group of children from the 1970s who go back in time to a school in the Victorian times to see how things were different years ago.

The Players have been in touch with Simon May and Mike Newman, the original writers of this musical, andMike, now in his 80s, will be in the audience on Saturday afternoon.

The children have been rehearsing since September under the guidance of producers Andrew Clingo and Jean Hawksworth. Smike is played by Tyler Mayoh,Mr Squeers by Harry Finlay, Mrs Squeers by Ella Waterhouse and Nicholas Nickleby by Josh Martin-Jones.
