Tearoom by day - and a twenties inspired wine bar by night
The Speakeasy Fine Wine Emporium and Artisan Gin Bar harks back to the 1920s, allowing customers to relax in art deco surroundings made popular during the Roaring Twenties.
Speakeasy - which welcomed visitors for the first time last Thursday - opens three nights a week, in what by day is the At Last Tearooms in Church Street, Werrington.

Hide AdMarie and David Mitchell (pictured left with friends at the opening night), who launched the vintage tearooms almost three years ago, came up with the idea of expanding the operation last year, and put the wheels in motion, closing for an extended period over Christmas for a revamp.
“We always wanted to make fuller use of the premises in the evenings and this idea seemed perfect,” said Marie. “We have had really good support for what we have done, as we hoped, offering people somewhere with a nice, relaxed atmosphere to come and have a drink on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“We have a lovely range of wines, champagnes and proseccos, plus artisan gins, bottled beers, craft ales and spirits.”
The main room, which seats around 25, has a classic art deco decor, while the smaller second room has a 50s American diner vibe.

“As we have just moved into the 2020s it is quite fitting that we celebrate the 1920s.”
The weekend opening begins again tonight (Thursday) and the following weekend, February 1 will mark the “official opening” with a soloist providing some musical entertainment.
