Nostalgia: Peterborough sporting teams through the years from Posh to Pirates
The range of sports featured in the pictures is testament to Peterborough’s vibrant sporting scene through the years.
A picture taken in 1920 shows the likely lads of St Mark’s rover scout troop gymnastics team with their trophies.

Hide AdAlso pictured is the Old Fletton police table tennis team. From the back, the team is PC Dave Read, Sgt Ken Orders, Insp Mills, Sgt Rusdale, PC Brian Cox and PC Tony Burnley, front, DC Northfield, Insp Sheppard and PC Ray Gretton.
There’s also a photograph of the all-conquering The King’s School 1st XV rugby team of 1970 who remained unbeaten for the first time in 27 years.
The PE teacher was Peter Cannard, a Welsh fly half who played for the successful Newport side of the late sixties.
No selection of team pictures would be complete without Posh. Pictured is the 1954 side who played in the 3-1 away defeat to Cardiff City in the FA Cup 3rd Round in front of a 38,000 crowd.
