The next picture, taken in August 1973, shows a Mr Garn changing the name of this building to GLADCA.

Gladca’s origins were as a community centre to service the needs of the Pakistani immigrant families who started to settle in the Gladstone Street area of the City of Peterborough in the 1960s, providing a hub for advice, signposting and referrals, a cultural centre point and a means of enabling integration into the wider community. It became a charity in 1972 and now services the needs of anyone living of working in the Peterborough area.

Do you remember Mr Garn? Have you been helped bythe Gladca centre?

Have you got any pictures of Peterborough people and places from the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s?

If so, and you’d like to share them with Looking Back readers, send them to [email protected]

We’ll be featuring more of Rev Paten’s pictures in future editions.
