Chris said: “18-year old Al Fransham was busking on Bridge Street with his dog Garfield in 1984.’’

Al takes up the story: “I used to play my guitar in the city centre to make some money while I was at college doing my A-Levels.

“I had no idea Chris had taken my photograph and so it was a real blast from the past.”

Al moved away in 1989 and spent nine months busking on the London Underground.

He has a partner and two sons and moved to Brighton where he has been a software engineer for more than 20 years and plays in three bands.

While on holiday nearby, Chris arranged to retake Al’s picture in the doorway of Across the Tracks in Gloucester Road in Brighton, with a friend’s dog, Harry.

•Street photographer Chris Porsz’s unique reunion pictures – where he recreates pictures he took decades ago – has earned him international recognition.

Back in 2009 the Peterborough Telegraph gave Chris his weekly column 'Paramedic Paparazzo' from which his 'Reunions' project was born when readers saw their pictures from decades ago. Most of his pictures feature Peterborough people and places and are often the result of painstaking detective work by Chris to track down his subjects.

His second book, Reunions II, is now available. Go to chrisporsz.com for details.
