Peterborough celebrates 72 years of NHS with round of applause

Peterborough came together to celebrate the NHS with a round of applause last night.

Some members of the emergency services joined NHS staff at Peterborough City Hospital at 5pm last night to show appreciation to all NHS workers, 72 years after it was founded.

There was also music by the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band for the occasion.

Residents were encouraged to take part in the applause from home, as the nation did on Thursday evenings during the first 10 weeks of lockdown.

A thanksgiving service for the NHS was also streamed from Peterborough Cathedral.
