MAD Millennials (MM), a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the millennial generation with their mental health and well-being needs, is launching the peer-to-peer support scheme, facilitating regular, theme based virtual sessions for individuals to join.

Mad Millennials has grown and built an online presence which gathers, shares and promotes discussion among the millennial generation. Following a successful National Lottery Funding bid, Mad Millennials is able to expand its support in an initial 12 locations across Europe, including Cambridgeshire.

Peer support differs from other forms of mental health services in important ways, explains the organisation. Crucially, the mentors will play an active role in creating an environment which fosters a safe community. In this space, people can use their shared experiences to give and receive support.

“Mad Millinennials peer-to-peer mentoring is a much-needed initiative at this challenging time.” said Matthew Simpson, a Mad Millennial Mentor for Cambridgeshire, who has undergone mental health first aid training.

“For those who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing it is important to know that you are not alone. Mad Millennials Cambridgeshire is a safe space to explore negative feelings or emotions you are having with a community who have a shared experience.”

Those wishing to join the peer-to-peer support group can do so by visiting Mad Millennials Mentors Cambridge Instagram page: www.instagram.com/mmmcambs.
