“We will miss Chess’s wisdom, her knowledge and her great sense of fun. We wish her a long, happy and fulfilling retirement and would like to thank her for making such a positive difference to the lives of so many patients and colleagues over the course of her career.”

Chess, who plans to continue working as a clinician, said: “It has been a privilege to serve as medical director of CPFT. I have been blessed with some of the nicest, kindest and most hardworking friends and colleagues anyone could ever want.

“I am so glad Julie is starting as our new medical director. It means I am looking forward to spending a bit of my time as an ordinary clinician again knowing that the trust will be in excellent hands.”
