Funding approved for Peterborough community care services

Sixteen organisations will receive a share of more than £21 million to deliver a range of interventions to enable people to live at home for longer, while retaining their independence.

The money is spread out over a five year contract beginning on May 3, with the option to extend for another two years.

Funding will provide:

. Lot 1 - Services which support the timely discharge of people from hospital or to prevent admission/re-admission

. Lot 2 - Services which deliver information and advice to improve access and awareness

. Lot 3 - Services which are delivered in local communities or within people’s homes - supporting, increasing or prolonging independence and improving social connections

. Lot 4 - Services which provide centres within local communities where people with support needs can meet others and engage in a range of appropriate activities.

The money has been allocated following the drawing up of the Early Intervention and Prevention Pseudo Dynamic Purchasing System (EIP PDPS).

The system is a joint collaboration between Peterborough City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Peterborough is the lead authority with all partners able to commission services independently.

A tendering process for the contracts concluded in January with 49 bids being received.

These have all been evaluated with contracts now being administered by Peterborough City Council to the following:

. British Red Cross (Lots 1, 2 and 3)

. Stroke Association (Lots 2 and 3)

. Cera Care Operations Ltd (Lot 1)

. HomeLink Healthcare Ltd (Lot 1)

. Care Network Cambridgeshire (Lots 1, 2 and 3)

. CPSL Mind (Lot 3)

. Cam Sight (Lot 2, 3 and 4)

. Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4)

. Peterborough Association for the Blind (Lot 3)

. Cambridgeshire Hearing Help (Lot 2)

. Alzheimer’s Society (Lot 2 and 3)

. Cambridgeshire Deaf Association (Lots 1, 2 and 3)

. Hunts Forum of Voluntary (Lot 2).
