The super sewing team formed from community group page Peterborough4You want to help residents who require face masks ahead of the new rules starting July 24.

More than 30 members have been putting needle to thread since the start of lockdown and over the last few months have donated hundreds of pairs of hand-sewn scrubs and masks to care homes across the city.

Now they are relaunching their appeal to help provide masks to those who need them most.

As the government has implemented new rules around wearing face coverings in public settings such as: shops, supermarkets and public transport from July 24.

Project coordinator, Sarah Gee said: “We are appealing to those who require assistance and someone tohelp them in these difficult times.

“We want to reach out and offer our items to vulnerable residents, key workers, hospital staff and carers.”

If you are interested in joining the team, Sarah is also looking for volunteers as their demand has ‘grown massively’, no experience is necessary and all levels of sewing are welcome.
