The dozen Peterborough neighbourhoods to see a fall in positive COVID tests

A dozen Peterborough neighbourhoods saw a fall in positive COVID tests over the past week.

In total there were 412 positive tests in the city in the seven days ending on December 2, a reduction of 10 compared to the previous week.

The area to see the biggest fall was Millfield and Bourges Boulevard, which had 23 positive tests - 13 fewer than the previous week.

Fletton’s drop was not recorded in the Government data as there were fewer than three cases in the week.

However ten areas saw an increase in tests.

Longthorpe and Netherton saw the biggest rise, with 45 cases - 21 more than the previous week. Peterbough Central also recorded 45 positive tests, which is the highest number in the city.

Peterborough’s rolling rate of cases per 100,000 people is 203.7 - above the national average.

In total more than 200 deaths related to coronavirus have been recorded at Peterborough City Hospital, with 71 people being treated at hospitals in the region.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 325 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 113 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 212 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. We are currently caring for 71 patients in our hospitals.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”
