A statement on the Octagon Medical Practice said: “A member of our team (non patient facing) has received a positive COVID test which has resulted in us having to close the Practice immediately for a deep clean.

“We are unsure when we will be able to re-open at the present time. Please ring our Eye Practice with any queries.

“Thank you and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause but we must ensure the safety of our staff and our patients.”

The practice has also urged people not to phone up to request a Covid vaccination. They insist residents will be invited to have a vaccination as per the government’s advice and have asked that they do not further congest the already busy phone lines.
