More than 200,000 Cambridgeshire and Peterborough residents receive COVID jab by Valentine's Day

More than 200,000 residents across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire have received the first dose of the COVID vaccination.

New data from NHS England has revealed that a total of 208,995 people in the county had received the first jab by February 14.

A total of 6,039 people have now had the second dose, meaning 215,034 doses had been given out - up from 186,344 the previous week.

For people aged 80 and over, 42,198 people have had the first dose (up from 41,153 the previous week). Of those, 4,903 have had the second dose, up from 4,861.

A total of 31,295 people aged 75-79 have had their first dose (up from 30,346 the previous week). Five have had their second dose - the same number as the previous week,

For people aged 70-74, 41,928 have had their first dose - up from 37,038 the previous week. Eighteen have had a second dose, the same as the previous week.

And 93,574 people aged under 70 have had the first dose of the vaccine, compared to 71,853 the previous week. Of those, 1,108 have had a second dose, up from 1,070 the previous week.

This week a further mass vaccination hub has opened at the East of England Arena in Peterborough, to ramp up the distribution of the crucial vaccine.
