The Peterborough Telegraph understands one of the sites being considered for the mass vaccination hub is the City Care Centre alongside the Urgent Treatment Centre off Thorpe Road.

Matt Hancock said: “Yes we are going to have a mass vaccination centre in Peterborough alongside all of the work that the GPs are doing and we hope that it will be open next week and I want to thank the NHS in Peterborough for the work that it is doing and for getting this going.”

Mr Bristow told the Peterborough Telegraph: “The NHS in Peterborough is already vaccinating at pace and scale.

“But this announcement today that we are getting a mass vaccination centre in middle of our City is great news.

“It means we can go further and faster.
