Fireworks and drive-in cinema events planned at Showground tonight cancelled

Two big events planned for the East of England Arena tonight (December 20) have been cancelled.

The drive-in cinema event was due to take place tonight and tomorrow

A statement from the East of England Arena today said: “Following the announcement by the Prime Minister, last night, regarding the imposition of Tier 4 status on Peterborough it is with considerable regret that we have to announce that the organiser of the events have been forced to cancel.”

The festive fireworks display was also due to take place this evening and statements on the East of England Arena’s website said refunds would be offered

The drive-in cinema organisers said: “Regrettably, due to tier 4 restrictions, the event is postponed and new dates will be announced as soon as possible, please watch the organiser and venue websites and social media channels for updated information.

“All tickets purchased will be carried over to the new dates, and those who have purchased tickets will be able to purchase a second ticket half price.

“Please allow five working days for your refund to be actioned.”

The fireworks event organisers said: “Regrettably, due to tier 4 restrictions, the event is cancelled.

“If you bought your tickets directly from the organiser then you will be refunded but please allow 3-5 working days. The refund reference on your bank or card statement will be “ENTER EFF” (Entertainment effects).

“If you have not received an email within that time period please check your junk messages and spam filter as all ticket holders will have been contacted.

“Please allow 3-5 working days for the refund to appear before contacting the organiser at the following email address: [email protected]
