Staff are dealing with normal winter pressures combined with the extra work as a result of coronavirus.

Residents are being urged to stick to appointments and to think about which health services they use.

Dr Kanchan Rege, Chief Medical Officer at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City Hospital, said: “We work to tried and tested plans, as we do every

year, to help us care for those that need it - including any potential rise in COVID-19 patients this winter.

“We are very busy and local teams are working hard to ensure people can continue to get the right care, in the right place, at the right time. We urge our community to ‘help us help

you’ – please use the NHS wisely, attend an appointment if you have one, and continue to follow national guidance.

"“Our Covid-19 vaccination programme is going well. I would like to thank all the patients who have attended so far and the staff from across our local health system for joining our staff to

administer the vaccines. This has been a real local NHS team effort.”

The vaccination programme at Peterborough City Hospital started last week, and vaccinations will soon be rolled out in GP surgeries in Peterborough as well.
