Covid: Increase in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire cases ahead of Christmas

The city had 816 positive cases in the week leading up to Christmas Eve, 11 more than the seven days previous.

This was a 1.4 per cent rise.

The rolling rate for Peterborough was 403.4, comfortably above the UK average.

Over the same period, Cambridgeshire had 1,554 positive cases, a rise of 362 (30.4 per cent), with a rolling rate of 237.8.

This was marginally below the UK average for the same period.

In the county, Fenland had 212 positive cases, a rise of 12 (six per cent), with a rolling rate of 208.1.

Huntingdonshire had 385 positive cases, a rise of 113 (41.5 per cent), with a rolling rate of 216.3.

South Kesteven had 444 positive cases, a rise of 128 (40.5 per cent), with a rolling rate of 311.7.

Moreover, South Holland had 204 positive cases, a rise of eight (4.1 per cent), with a rolling rate of 214.7.

Peterborough and Cambridgeshire are currently in Tier 4 for local restrictions (the highest tier possible), while Lincolnshire is in Tier 3.

Cambridgeshire moved into Tier 4 on Boxing Day, while it awaits to be seen whether the Christmas break has had an impact on local figures.
