COVID deaths at Peterborough hospital increase by 19 over weekend

On Friday, it was reported there had been 316 deaths related to the virus at the hospital. However, today Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 484 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 149 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 335 at Peterborough City Hospital.

"All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and the majority of those had pre-existing health conditions. We are currently caring for 267 patients with Coronavirus in our hospitals.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients' families and loved ones at this difficult time."

Despite being in lockdown for a nearly a month, coronavirus rates in Peterborough continue to rise.

Today Dr Liz Robin, director of public health for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire said one reason for the continued increase despite tight restrictions was the number of residents who were unable to work from home.
