Coronavirus: Peterborough restaurant offers free meals to NHS staff, Cambridgeshire cases rise

The Gurkha Lounge in Stewartby Avenue, Hampton Vale, said the offer will begin from tomorrow (Monday).

Hide Ad"As a small gesture from the Gurkha Lounge team to say thank you to all of our NHS staff during this time of great difficulty, from Monday, March 16 we are keeping a table for two specially reserved for any nurses and doctors who will receive a free dinner (excluding drinks).
"We will be carrying this out as long as we can remain open up until Thursday, April 2 and it is done upon a first come first served basis with a online/phone booking required."
The offer is valid between Sundays and Thursdays and ID proving you work for the NHS will be required.

Hide AdMeanwhile, the latest figures have revealed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to seven in Cambridgeshire.
There are nine in Northamptonshire and four in Lincolnshire, while the only case linked to Peterborough is of a person who contracted the virus outside the city.
Peterborough City Hospital and other local hospitals have this weekend announced restrictions on patient visits.
The number of people to have died from Covid-19 in the UK has risen to 35.
